About Casa Yurumein

Casa Yurumein was born in The Bronx, New York on June 6, 2009, with the purpose of establishing a Garifuna Community Center that provides services to make visible and strengthen the social, political, economic, cultural, advocacy and organizing efforts of the Garifuna and Afro-Central American communities living in the United States of America and the Central American region.

We are a conglomerate of Garifuna/Afro-descendant Central American immigrant organizations and Patronatos that work collaboratively to promote the well-being of our communities both in the United States and in the Central American region, rooted in ancestral wisdom to keep alive our customs, beliefs and traditions.
