Meeting with the Garifuna Community
in San Pedro Sula, Honduras

Uniendo Fuerzas por la Justicia Racial: Encuentro con la Comunidad Garífuna en San Pedro Sula

In an effort to promote racial justice and address human rights violations in Garifuna communities, an important meeting was held at the Alfonzo Lacayo Sanchez in San Pedro Sula. The meeting had the active participation of prominent members of the Garifuna community, as well as representatives of civil society and human rights defenders.

The main objective of this meeting was the socialization and analysis of cases of human rights violations that have affected Garifuna communities in Honduras. Participants pledged to work together to raise awareness of these injustices and to carry out strategic legal actions and advocacy campaigns.

During the meeting, various strategies were discussed to advance racial justice and address the specific concerns of Garifuna communities. The importance of the effective participation of civil society in the defense of human rights and the promotion of racial equality in Honduras was highlighted.

In addition, it was agreed to carry out concrete actions, including strategic litigation and awareness campaigns, with the objective of achieving significant advances in the protection of the rights of the Garifuna community and in the fight against racial discrimination in the country.

This meeting represents an important step towards building a more just and inclusive society in Honduras, where all citizens, regardless of their ethnic origin, can live free from discrimination and fully enjoy their human rights.
