As part of Garifuna Heritage Month, Mirtha Colón, president of Casa Yurumein and Hondurans Against AIDS, had the honor of participating as a speaker in a conference dedicated to the Garinagu, aimed at students at the University of New Orleans.

During this conference, Mirtha Colón shared with enthusiasm and depth the rich history and culture of the Garinagu, highlighting their legacy, traditions and impact on society. The students had the opportunity to learn about Garifuna heritage first hand, enriching their understanding of cultural diversity and strengthening the bonds of intercultural understanding and respect.

Mirtha Colón's participation in this conference was a testament to the commitment of Casa Yurumein and Hondurans Against AIDS to disseminate and preserve Garifuna culture, as well as to promote dialogue and collaboration between different communities.
