Empoderando a la Juventud Garífuna: El Entrenamiento de Miss Garífuna como Programa Cultural de Liderazgo

The Miss Garifuna training has evolved from a simple cultural activity to a cultural leadership program with a broader and deeper purpose. We are pleased to announce that training has begun, marking the start of an exciting journey of growth and empowerment for young Garifuna women.

Our mission is to create a safe environment for Garifuna youth by providing clarity of identity and opportunities to navigate social challenges. We strive to achieve this through role modeling, acceptance, mentoring and friendship.

The Miss Garífuna pageant is one of Casa Yurumein's cultural programs, which consists of transmitting cultural, historical and linguistic knowledge to the new generation. More than just a beauty pageant, this program's main objective is to empower young Garifuna women by providing them with the tools and support necessary to become strong and confident leaders in their communities.

Through Miss Garifuna training, we seek to transform lives by providing contestants with a space where they can grow personally and professionally, while celebrating and honoring their cultural heritage. This program fosters self-confidence, leadership and pride in Garifuna identity, while providing opportunities for meaningful connections with peers and mentors.

We are committed to further develop and strengthen this program so that it continues to be a beacon of empowerment and leadership for Garifuna youth. With each new generation of participants, we look forward to seeing courageous and committed leaders flourish, ready to carry the rich heritage and vibrant Garifuna culture into the future.

Together we build a path to a more secure and unified future!
