"In the midst of difficulty lies opportunity." Albert Einstein

"Persistence is the path to success; never give up in your efforts to achieve your dreams." Catherine Pulsifer

"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world." Nelson Mandela

On a second consecutive occasion, the president of the Board of Directors of the Organization, Mirtha Colon, shares with officials, affiliates, activists and collaborators of Hondurans Against AIDS and Casa Yurumein the achievements reached during the year 2023. This initiative aims to integrate the community in the results obtained, thus strengthening the connection between the members of the organization.

In addition, we present a preview of the activities planned for the year 2024, which are directly aligned with our strategic lines. We are building the road as we move forward, and over the years, we have experienced a continuous improvement in our organizational structure, acquiring more knowledge, fostering respect and consolidating stronger commitments to our communities. We strive to be more supportive and competitive in our ongoing commitment to the well-being of all.

A highlight of the meeting was the interest of our community in preserving the physical space of Casa Yurumein and continuing with projects aimed at strengthening the leadership and advocacy skills of young people, women, boys and girls. We also seek to promote awareness of their individual and collective rights, as well as to preserve the rich Garifuna culture and traditions.

An invitation was extended to those present to join the Garifuna Advocacy Day in Albany on January 30. This event aims to raise awareness of the needs of the community and propose improvements that positively impact the quality of life of families and vulnerable populations due to their immigration status. In addition, initiatives will be promoted in key areas such as health, education, culture and civic participation.
